Adjusting Your Gears

Rear Mech Set Up

Remove Cable Tension

  1. Ensure chain is correctly routed through rear mech and wheel is squarely in dropouts.
  2. Is mech a high or low normal design? For low normal design start with low limit screw and with mech aligned with biggest cog otherwise follow below steps.
  3. Adjust high limit screw so that the guide wheel (top plastic cog on mech) lines up with highest (or smallest) cog.
  4. Manually push mech towards low (or biggest) cog and adjust low limit screw.
  5. Shift back into high cog.
  6. Attach cable (observe correct fitting – DO NOT MAKE IT UP)! Torque to 5/7nm.
  7. Rotate cranks and check shift.
  8. Sit mech in mid-range and “trim” with the barrel adjuster on mech if necessary.
  9. Trim cable.
