Rear Mech Set Up
Remove Cable Tension
- Ensure chain is correctly routed through rear mech and wheel is squarely in dropouts.
- Is mech a high or low normal design? For low normal design start with low limit screw and with mech aligned with biggest cog otherwise follow below steps.
- Adjust high limit screw so that the guide wheel (top plastic cog on mech) lines up with highest (or smallest) cog.
- Manually push mech towards low (or biggest) cog and adjust low limit screw.
- Shift back into high cog.
- Attach cable (observe correct fitting – DO NOT MAKE IT UP)! Torque to 5/7nm.
- Rotate cranks and check shift.
- Sit mech in mid-range and “trim” with the barrel adjuster on mech if necessary.
- Trim cable.
Front Mech Set Up
Remove Cable Tension
- Shift chain into LOW gear on rear (big cog).
- Set front mech height (2/3mm) and alignment (parallel unless otherwise specified by manufacturer). Torque to 5/7nm.
- Set LOW limit screw-remember to “unload” mech before engaging screws. Look for a paper-thin gap.
- Fit cable (torque to 5/7nm) observe correct cable routing DO NOT MAKE IT UP!
